Activities

REMINDER: Weekly recitation sessions in webinar mode are Tuesdays at 7:30pm EST; link to next one at top right of this page.

Note: Boldface indicates scored assignment (part of final grade).

  1. Please use this form to indicate which times you expect to be available for one of our final showcase sessions in early August! (If you can't make it, please email Dr. Dann ASAP!)
  2. Read session learning objectives and readings[2]
  3. Do one or more of these activities (indicating which you'd like scored using form to the right):
    1. Address a learning objective for this session with an original document/presentation, etc., posting your contribution to the 04 Session folder.
    2. Answer a homework question
    3. Forum opportunity: Provide a peer substantive and/or methodological feedback on their draft abstract [see "DA-" links on our showcase page], including insights from 2 peer reviewed references pertinent to their topic or approach.  (If you pick this one, please place the person's abstract URL in the form to the right (i.e., under "Submission URL or description (optional)"). Thanks!

  4. Be sure to include citations for any references used in #3!
  5. Submit annotated reference for at least 1 citation to zotero library (except in weeks 5 and 10)
  6. [OPTIONAL] Participate in Session 04 recitation webinar (see link on top right of this page)
  7. Incorporating peer and professor feedback, as appropriate, hone your draft abstract [on showcase page] in preparation to submit your final abstract [due at end of next session].
  8. [OPTIONAL] Provide one or more peers feedback on their course project ideas. Even if you don't do 3(iii) for grade, please consider providing a peer informal feedback, so all may benefit from one another's wisdom. Feedback to someone who has not received any yet is particularly appreciated.
  9. [OPTIONAL] Visit and contribute to our student-generated Course Roster.
  10. [OPTIONAL] Get an early start on studying for next session's mid-term exam.
  11. [OPTIONAL] Submit questions via email to Dr. Dann for Session 05 recitation webinar, even if you are unable to attend in real time. Mid-term exam-related questions (for those who have not taken it yet) are welcome. REMINDER: Dr. Dann is also accessible outside of webinar times (including weekdays, some weekday evenings and Sunday nights) by appointment.
  12. [OPTIONAL] Consider possible exceptional contribution you might pursue (by Session 10)

Outputs and Outcomes

  1. Pick your date and time for semester showcase.
  2. Submission by each participant of 1 of these:[3]
    1. Standalone page or file contributions posted to session folder (e.g., addressing a given learning objective)[4]
    2. Responses to homework 02 questions
    3. Feedback (w/4 references) on someone else's abstract.
  3. Annotated reference posted to our shared library using Zotero 2.0 plug-in for Firefox.
  4. Refined abstract for individuals' course projects.

Next Steps

  1. Review peers' submissions in this session's folder and homework(s) in order to further prepare for exams, providing comments as inspired.
  2. Prepare for session activities (Journal 02, final abstract, mid-term) on session plan (05Plan), per syllabus.
